In TLC’s opening match R-Truth & Carmella defeated the team of Alicia Fox & Jinder Mahal to win the second annual Mixed Match Challenge. The dance breaking duo were declared victorious after former SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella made Alicia Fox tap.

Both Carmella and R-Truth have now earned the opportunity to enter their respective Royal Rumble matches at #30. The team also received an all expense paid vacation to anywhere in the world, but after their victory R-Truth claimed to have already taken care of those details and announced that the two would be going somewhere ‘tropical’: WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.

R-Truth and Carmella succeed last year’s Mixed Match Challenge winners Asuka & The Miz. While last year’s victorious duo did not receive the #30 spots in the 2018 Royal Rumble, Asuka did go on to win the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble and parlayed her historic victory into a SmackDown Women’s Championship match against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34.

There have only been three Superstars in history to win the Royal Rumble from the #30 spot: The Undertaker, John Cena, and Triple H.

Readers may stay with WrestleZone throughout the evening for full TLC coverage.
