According to WrestleVotes on Twitter, The Rock was once penciled in to win the 2019 Royal Rumble and challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35.

Obviously, Roman will not be a factor in any WrestleMania plans due to his leukemia returning. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t still see a return of The Great One.

The Rock and Brock Lesnar have been rumored for a potential showdown ever since both men returned to WWE. For those unaware, Brock Lesnar defeated The Rock at SummerSlam in 2002 and effectively ended his full-time wrestling career, as Rock became more focused on a career in Hollywood.

This match was then rumored for WrestleMania 30, with an angle to be shot the night after WrestleMania 29 between the two. However, Rock was injured in his match against John Cena so plans were reportedly scrapped. Of course, at WrestleMania 30 Brock Lesnar defeated The Undertaker, ending The Phenom’s vaunted WrestleMania undefeated streak and redefining The Beast Incarnate’s WWE persona and overall legacy.

The Rock has been rumored to be headlining the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2019, but maybe he’s still up for one more title run.

Has the time finally come for this showdown to take place? It would definitely create massive interest in WrestleMania from circles outside of the ‘wrestling bubble.’ That, however, may come at the expense of full-time WWE performers, which isn’t something hardcore fans who travel to WrestleMania are fond of.
