The Washington Post reports that the XFL, WWE CEO Vince McMahon‘s once failed and now rejuvenated football league, will be heading to America’s capital city. According to The Washington Post, Washington D.C. will be the proud recipients of a brand new XFL franchise.
The unnamed team will play its home games at Audi Field, also home of MLS’ D.C. United. According to The Washington Post, the team isn’t expected to name a coach, announce a nickname, logo, or colors until early next year, as the league’s first season won’t get underway until February 2020.
Pablo Maurer of The Athletic reports that the XFL will make the official D.C. announcement next week, which lines up with the league’s December 5th special announcement:
BREAKING: The XFL is set to announce – likely next week – that it's going to put a franchise in DC and that they'll play at @AudiField. Details are still unclear, but they've been in talks w/#DCU for several months on it. More to come.
