The Washington Post reports that the XFL, WWE CEO Vince McMahon‘s once failed and now rejuvenated football league, will be heading to America’s capital city. According to The Washington Post, Washington D.C. will be the proud recipients of a brand new XFL franchise.
The unnamed team will play its home games at Audi Field, also home of MLS’ D.C. United. According to The Washington Post, the team isn’t expected to name a coach, announce a nickname, logo, or colors until early next year, as the league’s first season won’t get underway until February 2020.
Pablo Maurer of The Athletic reports that the XFL will make the official D.C. announcement next week, which lines up with the league’s December 5th special announcement:

Domain Name Wire has uncovered several domain names that the league has registered in advance of the December 5th team announcement. The XFL has registered numerous city names including XFLAtlanta.com, XFLAtl.com, AtlantaXFL.com. According to Domain Name Wire, the city related domain names have all been in the format of CityXFL.com, XFLCity.com, and XFLCityAbbreviation.com.
While the XFL plans on launching eight cities to start, the league has registered the following city/regional names, making it likely that the next eight host regions will be among those included in the following list:

- Chicago
- Cleveland
- Dallas/Arlington
- Detroit
- Houston
- KansasCity
- Los Angeles
- Minnesota
- Nashville

- Philadelphia
