Some in WWE probably weren’t expecting Charlotte Flair to receive a gigantic babyface pop for assaulting Ronda Rousey with a kendo stick and chair after causing a disqualification in their WWE Survivor Series match, but it’s not being viewed as much of an issue. According to the Wrestling Observer, “nobody of importance” was unhappy with how the crowd responded. Apparently WWE knows that fans will pop when something important happens, and they viewed the angle as a huge success.
This isn’t a particularly new problem for WWE. Many of their pushed babyfaces have been booed over the years. Notably with John Cena and Roman Reigns receiving split responses despite being pushed as the main face of the company.
