Former Ring of Honor World Champion and GHC Heavyweight Champion Takeshi Morishima was arrested today for allegedly assaulting a taxi driver. The altercation happened after Morishima refused to pay his bill of 18,000 yen. Additional details are currently scarce, but the timing couldn’t be worse for the Pro Wrestling Noah veteran as he had been reportedly training for a comeback to wrestling.
Morishima is most famous in North America for his time spent as Ring of Honor World Champion in 2007. He went on to have some great matches in the company with Bryan Danielson and Kenta before dropping the title to current WWE commentator Nigel McGuinness. In 2008, he had some dark matches for WWE, but never signed a deal. He wound up retiring in 2015.
