Stephanie McMahon Teases New Women’s Tag Team Titles, WWE Superstars React

Back in July of this year, WWE chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon wasn’t quite yet ready for Women Tag Team Championships, although she was open to the possibility. McMahon told SkySports, “Not quite yet, but that’s something we’ve heard loud and clear from our fan base and it’s something we’re keen on implementing as soon as we’re able to.”

McMahon has recently told SkySports that the time for those titles may soon be approaching and also added that the new championships could be here, “Sooner than we think.”

SkySports recently caught up with several female WWE Superstars and recorded their reaction to McMahon’s new statement.

Sasha Banks discussed,

“I’ve heard rumors that it would happen; but, for Stephanie to say that, that’s really awesome because that’s a dream come true too and to work with my best friend, it’s an honor and I’m really happy I get to have a match with her this Sunday….I’ve been RAW Women’s Champion four times and for me, I’d love to be the longest [reigning] RAW Women’s Champion of all time, but for me I think the next focus is being a tag team champion. That’s the goal. That’s something I really want to work for and if we get those titles, I want to make sure that’s the most important title in the WWE. “

Bayley added,

“I never thought of myself as a tag team champion. You always want to go for the Women’s Championship, which Ronda Rousey has right now, but it would be so cool to be the first ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and if I can do that and be able to accomplish that with my best friend, it’s just like OK we’re doing it.”

Ruby Riott opened up about how tag titles might work for the three member Riott Squad,

“We’ve talked about it many times as far as when it come to any kind of titles. If one of us, or two of us has them, then the Squad itself has them. That’s how our relationship works. There’s no animosity. There’s no jealousy between any of us. If any of us succeed, we all succeed.”

Liv Morgan added,

“We can definitely manage tag titles and women’s titles. We can do all three. There’s three of us. We can make it work. We can figure it out.”

Sasha Banks, Bayley, Natalya and The Riott Squad will all square off as part of a Six Woman Tag Team Match tonight at Evolution.
