The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the WWE is interested in featuring RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey on Total Divas.

According to the Observer, WWE’s interest in Rousey is primarily due to the sharp decline in this season’s Total Divas ratings:

With the big drop in ratings this season for Total Divas, in as obvious an idea as possible, those in WWE are talking about approaching Rousey to become a regular cast member. The last word we’ve heard is she hasn’t been approached, but that word was several days ago and things could have changed by the time this comes out. It’s a smart move in that it ups the profile of the show, but they’d probably also have to change aspects of the show. Some of the aspects like the scripted issues could say, but a lot of the show is still about setting up gratuitous bikini shots to promote the next episode during the regular shows, and while Rousey has done her swimsuit modeling in Sports Illustrated, that feels like the wrong fit with the character she portrays on the other shows. Then again, they had Lana as Russian on the regular shows and not Russian on Total Divas so in a sense they are seen as separate worlds.

Despite the re-emergence of SmackDown GM Paige, Total Divas season eight began on a decline, as its premiere episode marked an all-time ratings low for the show. Since that time, the show’s numbers can only be described as disappointing, if not abysmal. Nikki Bella, arguably the show’s main star, is currently embroiled in a feud with Rousey that will culminate in a match between the two Superstars at WWE’s first ever all female pay-per-view: Evolution.
