#1.) Defeating Tommaso Ciampa
Gargano and Ciampa had the most anticipated match of WrestleMania weekend as the two faced off in a slow-burning build. Ciampa’s injury in 2017 after turning on Gargano prevented them from feuding right away, but the timing worked out perfectly.
They had a non-sanctioned match that Gargano needed to win to be re-instated to NXT. The two main evented NXT Takeover: New Orleans and had arguably the greatest match in NXT history and one of the best matches in WWE this century. The crowd was unanimously behind Gargano and their hatred for Ciampa made the match all the more memorable.
Gargano overcoming his demons and submitting Ciampa with the knee brace made for the perfect match ending and he stood triumphantly in one of the best payoffs ever. Their feud, however, was far from over.
