#1.) Hulk Hogan

When talking about a long-term storyline with a slow-burning build, don’t look past the Mega Powers storyline. It was a fairly simple story. Two of the biggest and most powerful stars in the company teamed up to help one another, with Hogan even helping Savage win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania IV.

However,  as their alliance went on, Hogan came across as an ego-maniac and a glory hog. Aside from just this, Savage’s insecurities made him believe that Hogan lusted for Elizabeth.  Tensions grew and egos clashed that all led up to Savage viciously attacking Hogan, ending the Mega Powers alliance.

Their year-long plus storyline culminated in a WrestleMania V match for the WWE Championship. At this point, Savage had been champion for a full year. The iconic bout was billed as The Mega Powers Explode and it culminated with Hogan overcoming Savage, becoming Champion after over a full year. Till date, it remains one of the greatest storylines in WWE history.
