While many people were angry at the decision to have The Miz beat Zack Ryder for the Intercontinental Championship just one day after WrestleMania 32, it turned out to be the best possible scenario for The Miz, the WWE and the fans. Maryse had returned on the RAW after WrestleMania to help The Miz win the Intercontinental title. Their pairing would take The Miz to a whole new level and the Intercontinental title victory would mark the beginning of one of the most important runs of his career.
The Miz saw a huge resurgence and started being viewed as an even bigger star. Through some incredible feuds and matches, The Miz would what many consider the greatest Intercontinental title reign of the decade. Maryse added a whole new layer to Miz that we had never seen before, and it was around this time that fans began to understand just how great The Miz truly is.
