#3.) Finally getting one over CM Punk
In the midst of Samoa Joe’s dominant reign as ROH World Champion, he was on top of the world. Enter CM Punk, the young up-and-comer who challenged Joe for the title. In the first two bouts, the two would go on to have time limit draws, with the second match, in particular, is considered one of the greatest of the decade.
They finally had a blow-off at All Star Extravaganza II in 2004, this time in a no-time-limit match. Joe would finally get one over Punk and prevail, continuing his legendary run as champion. The importance of this feud can’t be understated. Many believe that it was Joe vs Punk that truly put ROH on the map as a force to be reckoned with.
