#4.) Match with Kenta Kobashi
In 2005, the best in ROH Samoa Joe would take on one of the best in the world – Kenta Kobashi. In Kobashi’s maiden journey to the United States, he feared that he would get booed as a “stereotypical foreign heel”. Joe assured him that the fans knew who he was and that it wasn’t going to be as he thought.
Turns out, Joe was right. After Kobashi made his way to the ring, the small yet rabid crowd were on their feet chanting and going wild for the Japanese legend. The two world-class athletes would put on a match of a lifetime in front of a small, intimate crowd.
The hard-hitting affair would earn the match a 5-star rating and further proved that Joe was one of the best in the world at the time.
