Stephanie’s five-month reign as Women’s Champion in 2000 saw her become one of the most hated figures in WWE. She would beat Lita on SmackDown numerous times before finally falling. On an August episode of RAW, Lita and Stephanie McMahon would go at it for the women’s championship.
The odds were against the young upstart Lita, as Triple H was the special guest referee. Things got chaotic in short order and Kurt Angle and even The Rock would find themselves interfering in the match. With The Rock hitting a spinebuster on Stephanie McMahon, Lita was able to pick up the win and end Stephanie McMahon’s sole reign as Women’s Champion.
