#1.) He wanted to be a pro-wrestler
When Vince McMahon appeared numerous times on screen and storylines throughout the years, it wasn’t any coincidence. While he did utilize the Montreal Screwjob to create the Mr McMahon character, he wrestled many times as well, especially on the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania.
This could perhaps be attributed to the fact that he wanted to be a professional wrestler once he saw the behind-the-scenes of his father’s business. Unfortunately for Vince, his father strictly prohibited it and this prompted Vince to take up a ring announcer and commentary role, which he would have for two decades.
One would think that his transition into the Mr McMahon character came as a huge delight to him. Not only did he get to base a character off himself, but he got to build several superstars’ careers in the process. It’s hard to imagine “Stone Cold” Steve Austin or The Rock‘s career without Vince McMahon helping them.
If his father had allowed it and Vince had become a pro-wrestler, the history of professional wrestling would have changed forever. There would be little chance that Vince would be in control after his father had passed the company over and the direction may have been very different. But as we know, Vince K. McMahon’s approach of business was far different and far more ruthless than his father’s.
