#5.) Pre-XFL Ventures

It’s no secret that Vince McMahon’s first XFL venture ended up flopping and shut shop fairly quick. It wasn’t his first time attempting sports and competition’s outside of wrestling.

In 1979, both Vince and Linda McMahon purchased the Cape Cod Coliseum, a 7,200 seater arena and the Cape Cod Buccaneers, an ice hockey team belonging to the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. The team would only last a season and the promotion was shut down in 1987.

As for the Cape Cod Coliseum, it enjoyed success in the early going, selling out rock concerts and even being used for WWF events. It was sold in 1984 to Christmas Tree Shops, who use it as a warehouse.

McMahon later attempted to enter the Bodybuilding world when he began the World Bodybuilding Federation. The idea was to compete against the International Federation of BodyBuilders. He founded the organization in 1991 and it lasted only two years before closing down.
