You’d think that with Undertaker vs The Rock for the WWF Championship would be a WrestleMania worthy-match up. While it’s true, it was only the secondary rivalry heading into King Of The Ring in 1999. The main feud saw Vince & Shane McMahon battle Steve Austin in a ladder match for control of the WWF.
Austin had been CEO of the company and the McMahons were willing to do anything to take control back. They successfully managed to do so, gaining control back. The following night on RAW Is War, however, Austin defeated Undertaker to regain the WWF Championship and Vince McMahon was subsequently banned from TV as per the stipulation. Even in defeat, the Rattlesnake stood tall.
