For hardcore fans at the time, this was nothing short of a mouth-watering feud in the making. Being two all-time great technical wrestlers, the two had an incredible feud in the early 2000s. They had a trilogy of matches, starting at WrestleMania X7, where Angle won. The second match was at Backlash where Benoit won with a “submissions only” stipulation. The final match of the feud was at Judgement Day, where Angle beat Benoit in a 2-out-of-3 falls match.
They even won the tag team titles together in 2002 and feuded in early 2003, where they had an outstanding match at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Championship.
