Andre The Giant was a larger than life figure in the WWE in the early to mid-80s till his retirement. Leading into WrestleMania 3, it was acknowledged that Andre had been undefeated for 15 years. He had gotten a trophy for this achievement, while Hogan had gotten a much bigger trophy for being WW(E)F Champion for 3 years straight.
This led to Andre being displeased and for the first time in his career, turning heel after Bobby “The Brain” Heenan took him under his wings. He challenged Hogan to a WW(E)F title match at WrestleMania 3, where Hogan retained and ended Andre’s undefeated streak after hitting the iconic bodyslam and a leg drop.
