This should serve as an example as to why you shouldn’t have a tag team split just for the sake of it. The Dudley Boyz were separated in 2002 via the brand split and D-Von Dudley became Reverend D-Von, turning heel as well. Bubba Ray Dudley, on the other hand, formed an alliance with Spike Dudley.
WWE was quick to realize that they were better off together and later that same year, they reformed as a team. There was no payoff simply because there was no story there.
