Heading into WrestleMania XIX, Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar were bitter enemies. Despite this, they patched up after the match when Lesnar won and Angle gave him his full endorsement. It was after that when Angle took a small hiatus before making his return to television. This time, he was a full-fledged babyface and had a friendly, competitive feud with Brock Lesnar, even beating him for the WWE title in a Triple Threat match and then becoming the only man to ever submit him.
However, their friendship would end when Lesnar turned on him in pursuit of the WWE title, which he eventually did win back.
