It had taken WWE/F a surprisingly long time before they realized that theme songs make entrances far more effective. Back in the day, especially int he 1970s and even a good part of the 1980s, wrestlers would walk out without a theme song. Legends such as Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Morales, and Bob Backlund, among others, never got to have a theme song in their prime.
However, once the Golden Era ushered in, an increasing number of superstars would get entrance songs. Despite this, there were certain times like Royal Rumbles where theme songs still wouldn’t be played. Regardless, they have become an extremely essential part of wrestling over the past 3-4 decades and it’s hard to imagine WWE or wrestling in general without them.
It’s simply the effectiveness and the reaction that these theme songs incite that make the product so much more special and it’s what separates wrestling as a form of entertainment from other arts. There are obviously a few theme songs that stand out among the rest. These are the most recognizable theme songs in WWE history
