This one is a bit sketchy because Michaels retired when he “lost his smile” in 1997. We all know how that story goes and the accusations were thrown around, but the fact is that Shawn Michaels was very quick to return to the ring. He claimed to have injured his knee and vacated the WWF Championship as a result, only to return four months later.
He won the tag team titles upon returning but the story about Michaels losing his smile remains one that fans question to this day.
