#4.) Samoa Joe vs Bray Wyatt vs Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor – 2017
2017 post-WrestleMania was the beginning of a 500+ day Universal title reign from Brock Lesnar. It was over a month since he had defended the title and WWE needed a new challenger. To crown a new contender, they took the top five stars of RAW and put them together in an Extreme Rules match.
What ensued was a chaotic but brilliant match-up. Every superstar came close on one occasion or the other, but the numbers game would constantly prevent securing any pinfalls or submissions. Samoa Joe was the one who surprisingly ended up walking out as the #1 contender after choking out Finn Balor.
Joe would be unsuccessful in his attempt against Lesnar, but he proved to be his best rival in years.
