The main event of Extreme Rules 2009 saw Edge face another top World Heavyweight title challenger in Jeff Hardy. Edge was coming off a victorious feud against John Cena, one that very few can say they have. He had a victory over Hardy at Judgement Day, but this time, a ladder match stipulation was added to it.
Having their best match against each other, Edge and Hardy stole the show in a great main event. This time around, Hardy would end up winning the World title, but his celebrations were cut short as CM Punk cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase.
