#3.) vs AJ Styles – Slammiversary XI
Five years later, AJ Styles and Kurt Angle would meet again at Slammiversary. It was a very different AJ Styles this time as his character had taken on a more dark and serious tone. He even changed his theme song to give himself a new feel and though it didn’t work as well as he might have hoped, it still translated well into their match.
A mark of two great performers is when they’re constantly able to have a different match from the previous one. This is an objective they successfully fulfilled so it resulted in an even better match. To add to it, there were no shenanigans so to speak. It was one of those cases where two performers are so evenly matched that the winner hardly even “wins”. Angle did pick up the victory with a roll-up but Styles looked good coming out of it.
