Hulk Hogan may be a controversial figure in the late 2010s, but the reality is that if there was no Hogan, there would be no WWE. If anything, Hogan changed the entire course of professional wrestling as fans knew it. Ushering in the period of The Golden Era, Hogan would be Vince McMahon‘s hand-picked successor to Bob Backlund.
Of course, the decision was spot on, because Hogan turned out to be the face of the company for years after that. With 12 World titles to his name between WWE and WCW, Hogan’s first WWE title win kickstarted a career unlike any in wrestling before. He became one of the biggest global superstars and an icon of his time.
