5 Best WWE Matches Of 2007

#4.) Triple H vs Randy Orton – No Mercy

No Mercy was a night of absolute madness. John Cena had vacated the title due to injury after a year-long+ reign as WWE Champion. As a result, Vince McMahon crowned a new WWE Champion at the beginning of No Mercy – Randy Orton. Orton was goaded into facing Triple H right away and lost the title in his first defence.

The same night, Triple H was ordered to face Umaga in a title defence. Fatigued and hurt, he still managed to overcome the Samoan Bulldozer. But the night wouldn’t end for him there. He would once again be forced to defend the title against Randy Orton – this time in the main event in a Last Man Standing match.

Despite Triple H being beaten, broken and scarred, he managed to put up a fight for the ages against a relatively fresher Orton. It was one of the most underrated nights of Triple H’s career and unfortunately for him, Orton would beat him in the Last Man Standing match to walk out a 2-time WWE Champion.
