Best WWE Matches Of 2004

2004 was basically less than two years into the Ruthless Aggression Era. Gone were the days of the Attitude Era and gone was the weekly chaos that came with it. However, it was replaced by a new approach featuring newer superstars and exciting times. It was still not PG, as that was still four years away.

But 2004 saw the rise of many new stars, primarily the rise of Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero as champions. Prior to that, superstars of their stature, i.e, superstars with a more “regular” size wouldn’t really be viewed as World Championship contenders. But as they say, the cream always rises to the top and that’s what happened there.

With the rise of the “smaller” superstars, there was also a drastic increase in the match quality. With many names such as Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels constantly stepping up to the plate, there was a lot of promise in 2004 and a lot of great matches. We look at WWE’s five best matches that year.
