#5.) John Cena vs Kurt Angle – No Mercy

2003 was a pivotal year for John Cena. The prior year, he made his debut by confronting Kurt Angle, coming up short in the match but proving that he had “Ruthless Aggression” – the one quality that made him believe he could stand head-to-head. WWE superstars, even the experienced ones, clearly recognized the potential that he had.

Kurt Angle was coming off a disappointing WWE title loss and it’s important to note that unlike their first confrontation, the roles were reversed. Angle was the face and Cena was the heel.  But it was a big moment for him because 2003 was the year where Cena proved that he could hang with the very best. Angle was only one of many top stars who he feuded against in that period and their match turned out to be a rather intense 18-minute contest.

Angle once again came off the victory, but the tides were turning and the crowd was getting behind Cena. He would turn face not too long after.
