It was Icon vs Icon. The Rock challenged Hulk Hogan to a dream match at the grandest stage of them all. It was surreal in itself because Hulk Hogan came back to WWE in 2002 as a part of the nWo. He was a heel at the time and all roads led to WrestleMania, where he took on The Rock in what should have been the main event of the show.
Either way, it certainly felt like the main event, with the crowd on their feet the entire time. It was surreal to watch two icons of different generations go at it in the grandest stage of them all, but they would have a match that nobody would ever forget. You can get goosebumps just by watching the match even today, with Hogan being treated like the biggest babyface in the world despite being a heel.
Ultimately, Hogan did turn face after the match and shook hands with The Rock.
