Montel Vontavious Porter may be an odd addition to a list with so many legends, but he was easily the second greatest United States Champion in WWE history. MVP essentially made the title a part of his appearances and with 419 days spread across two reigns (one of which was 343 days), he became an essential part of the SmackDown upper mid-card.
He first won the title from Chris Benoit in a 2-out-of-3 falls match and then won it back from Matt Hardy. At one point, it felt odd seeing him without the title.
