WCW was at one point the only real threat to WWE. In the 90s, the company owned by Ted Turner suddenly rose from the ashes and began to acquire many top names in the wrestling industry. Their biggest acquisitions would usually be former WWE superstars who were generally past their prime, but they did create some really special homegrown talent as well.

Either way, their purchases helped draw a lot of interest in the product and they were rivaling WWF week-in and week-out for years. This glory period of WCW saw some of the greatest of all time go at it, competing to become the best of the best in WCW. The WCW World Heavyweight Championship was filled with short reigns and a few controversial ones, but it would be wrong to say that they never had any great world champions.

We look at their five greatest-ever World Champions.
