Similar to John Cena, Strowman winning the MITB briefcase felt altogether unnecessary. He was the second most pushed full-time superstar in the company and seemed to be set for a Universal title win sooner than later. In his case, WWE was constantly hesitant to pull the trigger, which made the MITB win all but a guarantee that he would become world champion.
However, this too, was wasted because Strowman cashed in beforehand and his match with Roman Reigns ended up in a no contest. There were plenty of better options for the briefcase and WWE chose to waste it on someone who didn’t need to carry it.
