Finn Balor defeated Kevin Owens to become NXT Champion and when he was champ, there was nobody on the roster more important than he was. As it is, he was treated as a big international signing, and he felt like a larger-than-life character at NXT. He’s the perfect example of someone who thrived under the NXT spotlight, and he still gives a lot of credit to the brand for developing him into what he is.
He would shatter Neville’s record title reign, holding the championship for a whopping 292 days. His reign was an incredible one, and he was the perfect person to lead the brand when he did. He created so much hype that his main roster debut was easily the most anticipated one in WWE history.
