There was a whole lot of hype with regards to Nakamura, and when he was signed by WWE, it was treated as the biggest signing in the company’s history. Naturally, the hardcore NXT fans were thrilled about his debut against Sami Zayn at NXT Takeover: Dallas in 2016 (a match that would be Zayn’s last in NXT). It was the perfect story. A debuting star vs an established name who was heading out.
From Nakamura’s entrance to the match, the crowd reaction had never gone down and the atmosphere was second to none on the night. Nakamura would defeat Zayn in an enthralling classic, instantly living up to the hype and more.
