When your WWE main roster debut sees you go right after the face of the franchise John Cena, you know that there are big plans for you. This is exactly what happened to then-NXT Champion Kevin Owens, as he debuted and made an impact right away by attacking John Cena and stamping his US title.
They would have a non-title match at Elimination Chamber 2015, which was basically just a Network special. Either way, what nobody expected was Kevin Owens winning clean. But that’s exactly what happened. Cena put Owens over clean as a whistle and it would kickstart a trilogy, which Cena eventually won.
Even then, the feud did leaps and bounds for Owens’ credibility on the main roster.
