#1.) NXT Takeover: New Orleans
NXT Takeover at WrestleMania 34 weekend is one that is going to be very hard to top. Apart from just the card being stacked from top to bottom, it feels like everything about the show was done to perfection. It kicked off with a six-man ladder match to crown the inaugural North American champion, a match which would instantly be dubbed as one of the best ladder bouts in WWE history. Adam Cole would become champion.
Shayna Baszler finally managed to get the best of Ember Moon, winning the first of two NXT Women’s Championships. Roderick Strong would shock the world and turn heel, helping The Undisputed Era keep the tag team titles and even win the Dusty Rhodes tag team classic.
Aleister Black, meanwhile, had the culmination of his year-long run in NXT, by beating Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas to become NXT Champion. The main event saw the first of three matches between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa – an unsanctioned match which would lead to an all-out war. From the crowd reactions to the spots to the story told, the match was wrestling perfection, and the closing moment where Gargano lifted Ciampa’s crutch and knee brace in victory will forever remain one of NXT’s most iconic moments.
