The British Bulldog’s 5 Best Moments

Davey Boy Smith, aka The British Bulldog, was one of the greatest of his generation. A man ahead of his time, he would make an early transition in his career over the style of his wrestling. While he was fully capable of being a high-flyer like his former partner The Dynamite Kid,  once he started to bulk up he became a power-based wrestler, one that actually benefited him from a popularity standpoint.

Of course, back then, wrestlers didn’t need to be great in-ring workers to get over. However, The Bulldog was an all-rounder in every sense, and though he may have never reached the mountain top of wrestling as a world champion, he certainly left an unforgettable mark on the industry. He was most definitely ahead of his time, which makes it all the better that he was associated with Bret Hart for spurts of his career, because the latter was also very much ahead of his time.

Unfortunately for Bulldog, his career and life both succumbed due to his personal issues and he was never fully able to reach his true potential. Even so, he’s had some great moments throughout his career, and these are the very finest of them.

#5.) Winning the tag team championship – WrestleMania 2

WrestleMania 2 was divided into 3 venues – the Nassau Coliseum, the Rosemont Horizon and the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. It’s safe to say that after that experiment, WWE decided that it would be best to host WrestleMania in one venue. Either way, the main event at the Rosemont Horizon saw  The Dream Team  (Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine) defend the tag team championships against The British Bulldogs, who were accompanied by Ozzy Osbourne and Lou Albano.

It was their breakout moment as a team as they would defeat the legends in a good match to win their first tag titles. They would hold on to them for around 9 months or so.
