Hulk Hogan and The Rock’s match at WrestleMania X8 was billed as “Icon vs Icon”. It was the returning Hogan with the NWO taking on The Rock in what was the beginning of the end of his WWE run. Naturally, with Steve Austin refusing to face Hogan, The Rock was the best option.
The atmosphere in the Toronto Skydome was nothing short of electric. Fans were so happy to see Hogan back on the big stage that they simply couldn’t boo him, despite being a heel. Everything he did was met with a thunderous reception, and the crowd noise throughout the match can give you goosebumps.
The Rock beat Hogan, and the latter turned face as well after a post-match angle involving the NWO. It was a great passing of the troch moment for The Rock, even if he was leaving to Hollywood just over a year later.
