Batista vs The Undertaker was supposed to be the main event of WrestleMania 23, but WWE decided to go with Cena-Michaels instead. It would end up paying off, as the two proved to have a natural chemistry with one another, putting on an extremely memorable main event on the night.
The feud itself is quite underrated, as John Cena won clean on the night. They would have another match around the end of April on RAW, one that would end up going on for an hour before Michaels got his win back. However, Cena was once again the defending champion at WrestleMania 23.
