This match was Icon vs Icon. The old generation vs the then-current generation. It was a clash of the two biggest stars in WWE history (excluding Steve Austin), and by far the most anticipated match on the card. There didn’t need to be any titles on the line, simply the old vs the young in a passing of the torch match.
And from the get-go, the staredown and the match itself, it was clear that fans felt this was the biggest match of the night. The reaction they gave Hogan can still give you chills to this day, and it was much bigger than the actual headliner – Chris Jericho vs Triple H for the Undisputed WWE Championship
