#2.) JBL–Eddie Guerrero – June 2004
Nobody saw JBL as a main eventer, even when he changed characters from the butt-kicking, beer drinking acolyte to the rich Texan man. He was a midcarder at best, but WWE decided to take a chance on him. Eddie Guerrero was obviously a popular WWE Champion, but he was a little too hard on himself and when he saw that ratings weren’t moving, he took it as a sign of personal failure.
He asked Vince McMahon to take the title off him, and he did a great job in putting JBL over. Their first match at Judgement Day was a blood fest, while their second match at The Great American Bash saw JBL shockingly become WWE Champion. He would become the longest-reigning WWE Champion in SmackDown history until AJ Styles broke his record in 2018.
