#1.) vs Bret Hart – Summerslam 1991
It was Bret Hart’s first opportunity at singles gold and his parents were ringside as well. Hart was still an up-and-comer at this point, so this proved to be a real test. Mr. Perfect’s back was already messed up from before, and each backbreaker that he took from Hart, he sold it like death.
He made Hart look incredible with his selling, and Hart would get an even bigger rub when he kicked out of the Perfect-plex, something only done by Hulk Hogan before. This is one of the many examples that prove why protecting finishers is so important. It proved that Hart was a force to be reckoned with, and he defeated Perfect to capture the Intercontinental title.
