It was Edge’s spear that helped Rob Van Dam win the WWE Championship at One Night Stand. So it made sense that RVD would face Edge a couple of weeks later in the subsequent PPV. Edge and RVD proved to have great chemistry together, bringing out new tricks out of the bag that we hadn’t seen before.
Even Edge brought out a whole flurry of offense and maneuvers that he hadn’t really performed extensively prior. Their counters made it a great match, and despite Lita attempting to interfere and help Edge, RVD prevailed and retained the title over the Rated-R Superstar.
