Guerrero always wanted to stand out from the pack. His early years were at CMLL, where he wrestled under the name of “Mascara Magica”. When he jumped ship to AAA, he decided to make a statement by removing his mask even before his tag team match had started.
Naturally, that’s considered a big offense in Mexico due to how much they value their Lucha Libre heritage. He was attacked by the opposing team, and he explained his actions stating that he wanted to create his own path and his own legacy rather than using his family name and influence. It takes a whole lot of guts to do that.
