#3.) vs Kenny Omega – G1 Climax 2016 Day 18
This was a must-win match for Omega. If the match even went to a draw, Naito would advance to the finals. Omega was looking to make history and he took on the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion in an enthralling match-up. Not much needs to be said about the pacing and technicality of the match because they’re both masters of it.
Add to the fact that they had great chemistry, they told a great story too. Omega was desperate and he wanted it more, leading to him finishing Naito with the One-Winged Angel. Omega would advance to the finals and win it, becoming the first gaijin to win the G1 Climax and subsequently the first gaijin to main event Wrestle Kingdom.
