Chris Jericho the part-timer had come and taken Tetsuya Naito’s IWGP Intercontinental Championship. Rarely even defending it, Naito finally got an opportunity at Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 13.
Jericho clearly had Naito’s number and the LIJ member would need to go all out in their NO DQ match to regain the title. Ultimately, Naito prevailed and brought the IC title back to NJPW full-time.
