The Royal Rumble match is one of the most exciting matches in WWE history. There are 30 men (and once 40 and 50 respectively) and the objective is to knock the other competitors over the top rope with both feet needing to touch the ground to qualify as an elimination. It’s a simple concept yet so exciting, thrilling and nerve-wracking.
It also falls right into the most exciting period of the WWE calendar, as it kick starts the road to WrestleMania. It’s such an important PPV and has been a part of tradition dating all the way back to 1988. We’ve seen careers be made, heartbreaks, emotions, unforgettable rivalries and moments and so much more all in the span of one match over the course of three decades.
It holds so much importance because it’s not just the winners who make an impact. Sure, they etch their place in WWE history, but even superstars who have come close haven’t been forgotten.
