Okada had equaled Tanahashi’s record IWGP Heavyweight title defenses. To break the record, he needed to face none other than Tanahashi himself. Okada and Tanahashi’s matches always have a new, unique twist to them, with masterful storytelling. Okada had to scratch and claw in a struggle to beat the former ace.
Though the torch had already been passed, it didn’t mean it was going to be an easy outing for The Rainmaker. The match was so incredible that it left people in the audience in tears. It was the final successful defense of Okada’s historic title reign.
