This was a match years in the making. Of course, there was no grudge rivalry since the Golden Lovers were united, but it was one that fans were dying to see regardless. There were high expectations for this match and even then, it blew them all away. This speaks volumes about the talent of both competitors.
Omega and Ibushi are familiar with each other in the ring, having a history dating back to their days in DDT. And that was the story they told. It wasn’t about two partners hesitant to fight each other. They dished out punishment to one another as they would for any other competitor. The stakes were even higher because if Omega won, he would go to the third consecutive G1 Climax Finals.
However, with dramatic storytelling and incredible chemistry, the two had the crowd on their feet nearly the entire time. Ibushi won, going to the G1 Climax Finals in the process.
